We would like to extend our sincerest lies — Alterna Savings

My bank is full of thieves.

My bank had two weeks of trouble resulting in all of their members not being able to withdraw funds and even after their description of the issue being updated to resolved: No members were still able to withdraw from their own accounts!

We would like to express our sincere appreciation for your patience as we migrated our data to the new system. Our data system conversion is complete. Branch and TeleService Centre employees have access to the system and can continue to serve your day-to-day banking needs. ABM access is still available; however we are in the process of posting the Point-of-Sale and ABM transactions that took place from midnight September 27 to present time so your balance will not be available on your receipt.

Online and telephone banking are unavailable at the moment but will be brought back up as soon as possible.
Once again we appreciate your loyalty and understanding. We will provide a further update once all channels are available.

Kimberley,

We’re now going on seven days. Seven days without any access to my bank accounts, online banking, bill payments and funds. What sort of monster are you attempting to breed?

For those of you who are unaware, Alterna Savings recently (about a year ago) purchased out the bank that I was with. Their migration has been planned for almost a year now but somehow, some way they were so unprepared for it that they’ve now had our banking system down for over a week.

I suspect they:

  • Lost all of our data
  • Were hacked or exploited
  • Are incompetent & shouldn’t be operating a bank
  • All of the above

I’m doing my best to migrate to an alternate bank but there isn’t anything I can do until these folks get back online. I have bill payments to process, Rogers crawling up my back, a new blackberry service to find, a blackberry to purchase & a weekend to prepare for. I’m deeply saddened by the lack of service that Alterna has been providing.
