Blessed.

We are all going to gather on the night of HoHoTO for a wonderful cause.
The funds that will have been raised for such a great community effort
will meet needs that we would not even begin to be able to comprehend –
tangible, wonderful ripples that will make an impact for the greater
good in our community.

We will go home feeling incredible knowing we, among many others, have
helped foster such widespread generosity. As those feelings of elation
start to settle, however, we must never forget that the needs of those
who are less fortunate than us have no end. A daily effort on our parts
must be observed to ensure that they too, get their daily bread.

When the music stops, the giving shouldn’t.

Scary, University Bible Fellowship – UBF horror stories

I was perusing the web and one of my google alerts for Waterloo brought up this oddity, it’s a story of the University Bible Fellowship and how ‘cultlike’ they seem to be. Quite the read, but very lengthy:

Former Waterloo UBF member speaks out

I honestly feel like playing fireman and somehow rescuing these people out of something like that.

What is love, anyways?

Before delving too deep, I’d just like to explain the premise for the topic. Earlier this week I was having a conversation with my father about relationships, marriage & all that jazz (Blues, most of the time).

I was attempting to grasp a few ideas from him regarding marriage primarily. How to choose, whom to choose & what makes a woman marriage worthy, anyways? Given that he’s been in a fairly solid marriage longer than I’ve existed, I thought he would be a prime target for information extraction….

Hello, Mr. Roboto.

Slithering around town…

I thought I’d get another quick blog entry out before heading off for a jog. My weekend has been spent happily worshiping, enjoying music & toying around town. I spent about an hour on Saturday hanging around the petshop just south of where I reside.

During my visit there I was torn between the aviary section & the reptiles. I’m after either a boa constrictor or a parrot; The latter I’ve had before many moons ago. My apartment is still too small to house a cat or dog — I thought the next best thing would be a parrot that I can loose 24/7, there isn’t much around it could get into to hurt itself.

The other option of course is a boa constrictor. I spent about a half hour handling the snakes down there & they’re surprisingly cute, warm & well cuddly if I do say so myself. The baby ones start at about $150 a piece — not the cheapest piece of muscle but..

Earlier today I made some arrangements online for a reptile tank, light & a few included goodies for some of my older Xbox games. The tanks generally run at around $50 so I thought trading a few old games I haven’t ever touched (ever) would be a fair move. The younger guy I’m trading with sounds pretty impressed with the deal — I love the bartering section on Craigslist!

One of the benefits or my thoughts toward a snake is that as long as you raise them from inception they’re generally fairly tame. They are anyways, boas at least. They tend to have a more docile demeanor. Unless of course you’re sleeping, then I hear you’re prey. I’d like to avoid becoming a meal to my pet .. they only eat once a week and generally only small rodents.: even rabbits when they’re larger; At any rate, I’ll keep him/her well fed to ensure that I’m not the victim.

Boa constrictors can grow up to 15 feet in length (although rare), females tend to be larger. I must say, they’re absolutely gorgeous. If you ever get a chance to be sure hold one — try it :)

Dei Gratia

I picked up a new domain name that I haven’t decided what to do with yet. Dei Gratia which means ‘By the grace of God’. The .com of course has been taken since 2001 & not used once… so I ended up fetching the .ca

I’ll make use of it in the form of testimony in the meantime. Here’s a few rips from the Wikipedia article on Dei Gratia:

According to the “Royal Proclamation reciting the altered Style and Titles of the Crown” of May 29, 1953, Elizabeth II’s full title is “Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith”; in the various other Commonwealth Realms, variations are used, specifying the realm in question and varying some of the other elements of the title.

My Dearest Evelyn

My dearest Evelyn is hiding out in Chicago this entire weekend so we haven’t got to chat much. I’m scheduled to head down to Ohio for a visit mid-September for a few days. If we time it right, she’ll be able to take me to one of the local football games just to see the crowds go wild over men in tights, mmm!

I’m filled with fear when I consider the possibilities & chances of things going in either direction. I’m retaining my faith though, God will ensure everything happens (as planned) that should happen. Upon hearing her voice I’m still lifted to the ceiling & left to slowly float down.. there’s something comforting about her presence. I hope that’s retained.

Thank you Lord, God, King, my Maker.

I can’t even begin to count my blessings, thank you. I’m left in awe everytime I glance back at the past few months of my life. Wow, where am I being taken? Ah, a las’. The end will be for my faith, now is for praise & worship.

Thank you. Dei Gratia :)
